my vision:
Assist in achieving access to justice for all
To contribute towards a justice system where all people, including those with vulnerabilities can understand the questions they are asked and can tell with confidence what has happened.
i Aim To:
Raise awareness of the communication needs of vulnerable people involved in the justice system.
Share knowledge and understanding of vulnerable people’s communication needs with other professionals in the justice system.
Raise awareness of how intermediaries as communication specialists work within the justice system.
What I Do:
I support the justice system at all levels, advising police officers, lawyers, judges, magistrates, witness service supporters, court personnel and probation officers on how to achieve and maximise communication be it through trial, at pre-trial conferences or assisting probation officers when interviewing for pre-sentencing reports on how to effectively communicate with vulnerable individuals and achieve best evidence within the Criminal and Family courts.
It is important to note that I am an impartial officer of the court and my role is to facilitate communication between all parties.
